Aboozar Amini

Aboozar Amini (Bamiyan, Afghanistan, 1985) believes that the world of cinema is home for him. He received his B.A. degree in Fine Arts from the Arts Academy in Amsterdam where he studied conceptual arts in audio visual and mix-media. His graduation film KabulTehranKabul (2010) won the Dutch Film Fund Wildcard Award. He moved to London to continue his studies. He completed his M.A. degree at London Film School with Angelus Novus (2015), which premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) and won various awards worldwide. His latest short film Best Day Ever (2018) opened at The Director’s Fortnight at Cannes in 2018 as part of the Tunisia Factory. Aboozar’s work is close to neo-realism cinema which was his major field of study for his master dissertation in London as well. His first full-length documentary, Kabul, City in the Wind was the opening film at the 2018 IDFA and won the special Jury Award. Aboozar is currently developing his first fiction feature film Ways To Run.
