Babak Amini was born in 1978, in Iranian Kurdistan, graduated with a major in philosophy from Tehran University. Babak has worked for several years as an assistant director to Bahman Ghobadi: A Time For Drunken Horses (2000) Turtles Can Fly (2004) Half Moon (2006). Babak directed 3 short films: Girls without Glasses (2002) Angels die in the Soil (2008) and On That Day (2008). He is currently developing his first feature film Oil the story of a soldier in charge of keeping watch of an oil well in a Kurdistan village near the Iranian border.
