“Wang BING : Chinese, born in 1967 in Jingyang county, Shaanxi province, China. He studied photography at the Luxun Arts University of Shenyang, Liaoning province, then cinematography at the Beijing Film Academy. In 1998 he started working as an independent filmmaker and director. He worked as a cameraman on the independent feature film, Distortion directed by Zhong Qiang. In 1999 he started to shoot, direct and produce his first documentary Tiexi District in Shenyang, Liaoning Province. His documentary was selected at the 2002 International Forum of the Berlin Film Festival. His feature film project Croire en l’avenir tells the story of poet Wang-Chu Yu’s life in a mental home. The destiny of a Chinese intellectual in the new open China.
Post Residence: Wang Bing has completed the writing of his script developed at the Residence, Black Iron Days. His project has been selected to take part in the 2006 Festival Atelier (Workshop).”
