Caetano Gotardo

Caetano Gotardo was born in Brazil in 1981 and studied cinema at the University of São Paulo. He directed seven short films, including Matéria, O menino japonês and Areia. All of them were screened and awarded in many festivals in Brazil and abroad. O que se move, his first feature film, was selected to many international festivals and received prizes including best film in Lakino (Germany), Semana dos Realizadores (Brazil) and Hollywood Brazilian Film Festival (USA). The film was released in Brazil and France in 2013. Caetano is a member of Filmes do Caixote, a group of young Brazilian filmmakers who work together constantly. He edited Trabalhar Cansa (Hard Labor), the first feature film directed by Juliana Rojas and Marco Dutra, selected for Un Certain Regard in Cannes 2011. At the Résidence, he is developing the project Todos os mortos, which will be directed in collaboration with Marco Dutra, the story of the decline of a family at the beginning of the 20th Century in São Paulo, narrated from the point of view of its three women.
