César Augusto Acevedo

César Augusto Acevedo director and screenwriter, was born in Colombia in 1987. He graduated with honors from the Universidad del Valle’s School of Social Communications (Cali, Colombia). His first feature film La Tierra y la Sombra was premiered at the 2015 Cannes Festival’s Critics’ week. The film won four awards in the Cannes Film Festival: The France 4 Visionary Award, the SACD Award, the Rail D’or and the Camera d’or. After his premiered, the film has been presented in more than 40 film festival worldwide and won many national and international awards. Acevedo directed the short films Los Pasos del agua (Cannes 2016) and La Campana (unreleased). His film work includes credits as co-writer on Oscar Ruiz Navia’s feature film Los Hongos, awarded the Special Jury Prize in the Bright Future section of the Rotterdam Film Festival, and production assistant on Ruiz Navia’s first feature  El Vuelco del Cangrejo (FIPRESCI Prize at the 2010 Berlinale). César is currently developing his second feature film Ascension.
