Chia-Hsin Liu

Chia-Hsin Liu is a writer-director based in Taipei, Taiwan. She graduated with an MFA from film department of the National Taiwan University of Arts and has worked on various independent shorts, documentaries, and international production feature films on both director and producer departments for several years. Her films are a mixture of fictional and true stories related to finding presence within modern and traditional social value from feminine perspectives. The previous short film Fan Fan (2015, 30′) was shown at numerous international film festivals including Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival (2015), and won the Best Film Award at Women Make Waves Film Festival (2016) and Best Formosa Audience Award at Berlin International Film Festival (2016). Chia-Hsin is currently developing her first feature film which is the expansion of the short film Fan Fan, exploring the hostess bars through the eyes of a curious young female graduate student set in modern Taiwan.
