David Nawrath, who is half German- half Iranian, was born in Berlin. At the age of 11 he moved to Teheran, Iran where he lived for two years. This cultural influence lead him some ten years later to direct his documentary ’Moharram’, which marked his entry into filmmaking. Since 2005 he has been studying directing at the German Film-and Television Academy Berlin (dffb). His first short film ’was bleibt’ (what’s left) was nominated for the official German Short film prize and for the official European Film Academy Short. The film was screened at several festivals around the world, won prizes, among them the Grand Prix Du Jury d’Angers. In 2009 he wrote and directed two short films; ’Eine Minute Freiheit’ and ’Der Neue Tag’. He is currently developing a documentary as well as writing his first feature film ’Bastard’.
