“Emmanuel KUREWA. Zimbabwean, born in 1965 and residing in Glasgow.
Emmanuel Kurewa is a graduate of the National Film and Television School of Beaconsfield in 1997, specialising in directing. He makes three shorts which distinguish themselves in several festivals: Mangwana (1998, 27′) wins Third Prize of the Cinéfondation of the Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival) in 1988, and the Public Prize in Angers. One Sunday Morning (1997, 19′), receives the Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand and the Angers Jury Prize. His first film, The Cold Season (1996, 11′) is produced by Channel 4. In 2001, Emmanuel Kurewa makes Small Love, a film for Scottish TV channel STV. His next feature project, Curtain Call, tells the story of a young African, torn between his desire to become an actor and the far more traditional choices that his family wish to impose on him.”
