Flora LAU

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Flora graduated from Columbia University in New York with Economics and Mathematics majors and then London Film School as a director. Flora directed her first feature Bends,which was written at the Binger Film Lab’s Writers Lab in Amsterdam in 2011 and had its world premiere at Festival de Cannes, Un Certain Regard Selection in 2013. The film screened at over 30 festivals thereafter. Flora is currently developing her second feature, A Simple Mistake, about Dong, who gets wrongly accused of a crime. Hoping to find a safe place for his daughter Hai, before his misfortunate destiny catches up, he brings her to his home village.  Hai gradually discovers his father’s notorious past and that the village is more vicious than safe for her.
