Géraldine Zosso was born in 1977. Although fascinated by film and photography since her teenage years, the desire to act to preserve nature and improve the human condition led her to first study forestry at EPF in Zurich. She worked on international environmental and social co-operation projects between South America, Russia and Kirghizstan. Géraldine soon incorporated photography into her work, and her passion for images saw her undertaking different courses in video and visual arts. The short film Mak was nominated for the Swiss Prix du cinéma, won the Prix spécial du jury at Premier Plan d’Angers and was shown at numerous international festivals. She is currently developing the screenplay of her first feature Ma mère: a young girl has to go join her mother who lives in a foreign country – a mother she doesn’t know. Moving from a free, caring environment into one full of solitude and prohibition, she still manages to succeed thanks to her creative, independent mind-set, which enables her to turn difficulties into opportunities.
