Kavich Neang

Kavich Neang, from Phnom Penh, Cambodia, studied music and dance at a young age at Cambodian Living Arts before graduating in graphic design in 2013. He began making documentaries in 2010, under the mentorship of Rithy Panh. In 2014, he co-founded Anti-Archive, the first Cambodian film production company producing arthouse cinema. In 2015, Kavich directed his first short fiction film, Three Wheels, which premiered in competition at Busan Film Festival and later won awards, including the Youth Jury Prize at Singapore Film Festival. Kavich has also joined Busan’s Asian Film Academy, Locarno Summer Academy, Talents Tokyo, and Docs by the Sea. Kavich is currently working on his debut narrative feature, White Building, now in script development. This project has received awards from Arte and CJ Entertainment at Busan’s Asian Project Market, and recently received support from Talents Tokyo. He is also in post-production on a feature-length documentary, tentatively titled Last Night I Saw You Smiling. Both films are produced by Cambodian-French filmmaker Davy Chou.
