“Kirsi Marie LIIMATAINEN : Finnish (born in 1968). Kirsi Marie Liimatainen holds a master’s degree in theatre and drama from the University of Tampere in the acting department. From 1991 to 1999, she acted in the theatre, cinema, television and radio. In 1999, she started study at Konrad Wolf Potsdam-Babelsberg University in the directing department.
While in Berlin, she met a group of Polish punks and, as a result, directed a documentary Modlichan toinen perhe/Modlicha (2001, 28′) screened in several festivals and on Finnish television (TV 2 YLE). She also directed the shorts Frühlingshymne (2002, 46′) and Versöhnung (2003, 13′). Her first feature project is entitled The Scream of Butterfly. A story of a working-class family in the 70s in Finland from the point of view a 5-year-old girl.
Post Residence: Kirsi is currently in the Residence at the Moulin d’Andé to complete the writing of her project begun at the Residence, after having made for the ZDF, Sonya (70′).”
