Marta Hernaiz Pidal is a Mexican filmmaker with family in Asturias, Spain. She has a master’s degree in Fine Arts with a specialty in Film Direction from the film factory founded by the renowned Hungarian director Béla Tarr in Sarajevo. Her short film "Dobro" premiered in 2016 at the Cinéfondation section of the Cannes Film Festival and traveled all around the world. Marta works as an editor and DOP and has produced four feature films through her production company Cine Vendaval most recently “Cenote” by Japanese director Kaori Oda, which premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2020. She is also co-producing “Ballad of the Phoenix”, which might be the first stop motion feature film in México. Her first feature film as a director, "The Chaotic Life of Nada Kadić" premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in Forum section 2018 where it was nominated for the first feature award and won several prizes at international film festivals. She is currently developing her second feature film, for which she was awarded the Young Creators grant for screenplay writing from the National Fund for Culture and Arts in Mexico.
