Mees Peijnenburg

Mees Peijnenburg is a native from Amsterdam,The Netherlands. In 2013 he graduated from the Dutch Film Academy. His films are worldwide critically acclaimed and awarded several prices. Nominated twice for a Crystal Bear at Berlinale for his short films: A Hole in My Heart and Even Cowboys Get To Cry. His films were screened at film festivals around the world such as Berlinale, SXSW, BFI Londen, Palm Springs, IFF Rotterdam, Clermont-Ferrand, Raindance and over 50 more. The short film A Hole in My Heart was the Dutch representative at the Oscars 2016 in the category Best Live Action Short. With this film he also received the Dutch Directors Guild Award. The most recent film he made, We Will Never Be Royals, won 2 Golden Calfs (aka the Dutch Oscar) at the Netherlands Film Festival 2015. His creative style experiments with different narrative forms, in which his distinct visual style is constant. While at the Residence, Mees will be developing his first feature film Paradise Drifters.
