Myrsini Aristidou was born and raised in Limassol Cyprus, based in New York. She is currently receiving her MFA in Film Production at NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a Full Scholarship. In 2013 she completed her BFA in Film and History of Art, at Pratt Institute in New York as part of the President’s List. In 2016, Myrsini was granted the Spike Lee Film Production fund for the production of her next movie. Her latest short film Semele won multiple awards around the world, including the Special Jury Prize for Best Short Film at the Berlinale Generation Kplus in 2016. Other works of the filmmaker include the short documentary shot in Argentina Ma’ (2014), and the award winning short film Not Now (2013). Her short films have screened in hundreds of festivals all around the globe. In May 2009, Myrsini had her first photographic book publication and exhibition Mother India, with all the proceeds donated to the Médecins Sans Frontières. Myrsini is also the co-founder of S’agapo Children’s Foundation, which aids in the education of children internationally. She is currently developing her first feature length film, Freedom, and will be participating at the 2017 Berlinale Talents.
