Paz FABREGA

Paz Fabrega was born in 1979 in San José, Costa Rica. She studied still photography and journalism before going to the London Film School. Her graduation film, Temporal, shot in a small Costa Rican village with non-professional actors, was screened at several international film festivals, and won prizes in Biarritz, Uppsala, and Guatemala. Her second short, Cuilos, set in a marginal neighbourhood in San José, premiered in the International Competiton of Locarno Film Festival.
Agua fría de mar is her first feature film, and it is in the last stages of postproduction; developed at the Binger Filmlab, it won the ARTE award of the Buenos Aires Lab and was a finalist for the Sundance-NHK Award. It was co-financed by Cinergia, Hubert Bals, Torino Film Fund, Ibermedia and Fondation GAN. She is now developing Todos Nosotros, her second feature film project, a film about the friendship between two girls of different backgrounds in a San José suburb, and a cat. She also teaches at the local film school and works as a DP or camera assistant whenever she gets the chance.
