Raya MARTIN

Raya MARTIN. Born in 1984 in Manila, the Philippines. Graduate from the Fim Insititute of the University of the Philippines. Bakasyon, his atmospheric horror short, won the Ishmael Bernal Award for Young Cinema at the 6th Makati Cinemanila International Film Festival 2004. His first full-length documentary Ang Isla sa Dulo ng Mundo, about the Itbayat tribe of Batanes, the Philippines, won Best World Documentary at the .mov International Digital Film Festival 2005, and is part of the New Asian Currents Competition of the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival 2005. He has just finished his first feature film Maicling Pelicula nang ysang Indio Nacional, a primarily silent film set just before the end of Spanish colonial rule in the Philippines. Currently, he is writing for the Southeast Asian film journal, Criticine.com.
