Rebecca DALY

Rebecca Daly was born in the UK to Irish parents. The family moved back to Ireland when she was 9 and she has lived there ever since. Rebecca completed a BA in Theatre Studies and English Literature at Trinity College, Dublin. She then went on to do an MA in Film at the Dublin Institute of Technology where she specialised in directing. After graduating Rebecca worked in the design and camera departments of several film and television projects. In 2006 she directed and co-wrote the short film Joyriders. It has been screened in competition at over 40 international festivals and won several awards. In her work, Rebecca is interested in exploring moments that, although rooted in the real, can lift the individual out of their reality, and change their relationship to their everyday experience. She is currently developing her first feature project The Other Side of Sleep with writing partner, Glenn Montgomery. The film opens as a sleepwalker wakes in woodland clearing beside the body of a young woman. It explores themes of separateness, experience and biological legacy.
