“Sebastian Lelio grew up in several Chilean provinces until he established in capital city Santiago in 1990. Graduated from the Chilean School of Cinema, he has directed several short films, “”Four””, “”Chamber Music”” (“”Cuatro””, Música de cámara””) and has worked sporadically in television documentaries.In the area of fiction features, he has specialized in digital filming, achieving narration of high emotional impact. Using a unique technique that involves scripts with no dialogues, acting improvisation and a long dedicated work of editing, he filmed the short films “”City of Wonders”” (“”Ciudad de Maravillas””), “”Vital Burden”” (“”Carga Vital””) and “”12 Minutes”” (“”12 minutos””). He co-directed “”Zero”” (“”Cero””) and directed two seasons of the chilean television documentary series “”Mi Private World”” (“”Mi Mundo Privado””), which achieved multiple nominations for prizes in Chile and up broad (EMI).
His first feature film “”The Sacred Family”” (“”La Sagrada Familia””) shot in only three days and edited for over a year has participated in over 50 film festivals and achieved several international prizes. (“”Coupe the Cour”” and Fripesci award for Best Feature and Critic award in Toulouse Film Festival). At the moment he is preparing his second feature “”Free Radicals”” (“”Radicales Libres””).”
