Seng Tat LIEW

Liew Seng Tat was born in 1979. He hardly said a word before the age of one. His mother, half suspecting that he was mute and mentally-retarded, was very relieved when he finally spoke at length on his first birthday. Liew Seng Tat has been actively involved in the Malaysian independent film scene since 2003. He is one of the new- generation filmmakers spearheading the Malaysian New Wave. His first live action film, Bread Skin with Strawberry Jam, garnered much attention and took first place at the 8th Malaysian Video Awards. In 2004, he set up Da Huang Pictures with Amir Muhammad, James Lee, and Tan Chui Mui. In 2007, his first feature film Flower In The Pocket made its world premiere at the 12th Pusan International Film Festival and won several international awards. His new project In What City does It live? The film will observe the reactions of village residents helping Pak Awang to move an abandoned house in the village and offer it to his daughter as a wedding gift.
