Una Gunjak was born and raised in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Una left her hometown at 18 to pursue her passion for film. It lead her first to Torino, where she finished her BA in Film Studies at the Universita’ degli Studi di Torino and then to the UK, to the National Film and TV School where she obtained her MA in Film Editing. In her previous lives Una has extensively worked as film editor on dramas and documentaries, and has occasionally directed commercials. Her short film ‘The Chicken‘ premiered at the Critics’ Week in 2014, won the European Film Award for Best Short Film and went on to screen in the International Competition at the Sundance Film Festival 2015 and nearly 90 other festivals, winning along 23 awards so far. Una is now developing her first feature ALFA which focuses on issues of immigration and loss of identity, as lived by a 40 year old mother trying to keep her family together while making it in the promise land.
