(HELLO, THAT'S ME)
A fictionalized biopic of the Armenian physicist Artem Alikhanyan, the film tells the story of a talented young scientist who looks back at the difficult choices and loses he experienced, in order to realize the impossible dream of building a space research center on Armenia’s highest mountain, Aragats. Capturing the anxious spirit of the 1960s, the film’s metaphorical visual style and focus on politically provocative issues helped to define Armenia’s own cinematic ‘New Wave’. This critical outlook, combined with frank portrayals of sexual desire, made the picture wildly popular and influential across the USSR.
