The Focus COPRO’ is a selection of feature debut projects in their earliest stages. The initiative aims to jumpstart the development of these films with an intensive program of mentoring sessions and an intimate networking event.
The Focus COPRO’ gathers projects in development by filmmakers from the current or previous editions of Cannes’ short film Selections – Festival de Cannes Competition, La Semaine de la Critique and Directors’ Fortnight – as well as projects scouted all year round.
It is a unique opportunity to discover renowned short film talents, who already have an impact on today’s cinema and who will confirm their artistic vision with their first feature.
With professionals from the feature film industry attending the Festival de Cannes and the Marché du Film, the initiative also creates the perfect opportunity to introduce the filmmakers behind the projects to major actors of the industry such as experienced producers, sales agents, film funds, institutions or development platforms over an intimate lunch.
The project-holders get access to the following benefits:
• Individual consultancy on co-production strategy
• Keynotes about film financing in Europe
• Keynote about international sales
• Guest of honor at the Focus COPRO’ Industry Lunch
In collaboration with EAVE and Eurimages.
Pop Up Film Residency – In the aim of supporting filmmakers with the script-development, one of the projects will benefit from a 3-week residency program.
ECAM Industria — In its mission of supporting emerging talent, a project benefits from the Impulso ECAM initiative, consisting of a tailor-made consultancy designed to meet the producer’s and director’s specific needs, and strengthen their project to boost its development. Additionally, one of the projects at the Focus COPRO’, already took part in the previous session of La Incubadora, feature film development program targeting emerging producers, directors & screenwriters from Spain, and developed by ECAM Industria.
HFF München Summerschool – In order to support the development through dedicated consultancies, one of the projects will take part in University of Film & Television Munich (HFF MÜNCHEN) summer workshops and benefit from tailor-made consultancies up to the filmmaker’s need (film treatment, script development, women writing lab…).
Submissions are made possible upon invitation.
