Glauber Rocha died at the age of 42 on August 22nd, 1981. He was the one filmmaker who gave true identity to Brazilian Cinema. He was born in the State of Bahia and, beyond being a filmmaker, was also a film critic, a journalist and a vibrant and incessant thinker who provoked considerable controversy. The whole of Brazilian intelligentsia gathered to mourn their loss at the historical Lage Park in Rio de Janeiro.

At the funeral wake filmed in 1981, statements were gathered and documented from those who had been with him throughout his life, those who had admired him and been his friends and those who had closely followed this myth of Brazilian Cinema. The film adds one more page to the story of this filmmaker, a story that had been thrust into a drawer for over 18 years and now emerge
