MOTO PERPETUO
Palme d'Or - Short Film 1981
The film owes its title to the paganini piece that is used in it. It is the story of a crowed perpetual motion lift and little man who wants to get in it – a quiet unending struggle. The lift keeps on moving up and down, and our little man makes desperate – and futile – attempts to find an empty niche in it? He finds in it the most unexpected things and persons, and witnesses most fantastical happenings. By the end of the film, when already there are empty niches here and there, he has become so utterly exhausted looking on at the cascading events that he gives up his original plan of getting into the strange sort of lift.
