PRICK UP YOUR EARS
Prix de la meilleure contribution artistique au Festival International du Film (Unanimité) 1987
On the 9th of August 1967, Kenneth Halliwell hammered to death his sleeping lover, the famous british playwright Joe Orton. They had been lovers and lived together for 16years. They shared everything but success. ” Prick up your ears ” is a celebration of Joe Orton’s irreverent and charismatic talent. It is the controversial story of one of the young Turks of the 60’s, from working class to national celebrity, from sexual innocent to grinning satyr. But Ortin’s story is also the story of an unconventional “marriage” founded in love, lived as a farce and concluded in a fateful and all-consuming jealousy.
