At the beginning of the 1980s, Catherine Corsini directed three award-winning short films. Her first feature film, Poker, came out in 1988. She then directed Interdit d’Amour and Les Amoureux with Pascal Cervo and Nathalie Richard, presented in the Cinéma en France section in 1994. The following year Youth without God (Jeunesse sans Dieu) was also screened at Cannes in the same selection. She became known to the general public with The New Eve (La Nouvelle Eve) in 1999, starring Karin Viard. Replay (La Répétition), starring Emmanuelle Béart and Pascale Bussières, was selected in the Official Competition at the Festival de Cannes in 2001. She followed this up with The Very Merry Widows (Mariées mais pas trop) with Jane Birkin and Emilie Dequenne. In 2007, she teamed up again with Karin Viard for Les Ambitieux, also starring Eric Caravaca. Her seventh film, Leaving (Partir), with Kristin Scott Thomas, Sergi Lopez and Yvan Attal, was a big success both in France and abroad. Three Worlds (Trois Mondes), with Raphaël Personnaz and Clotilde Hesme, presented at Un Certain Regard in 2013, won the Bayard d’or for Best Screenplay in Namur. Her most recent film, Summertime (La Belle Saison), won the Variety Piazza Grande Award in Locarno and earned two César nominations for Cécile de France and Noémie Lvovsky. Catherine Corsini is currently adapting Un amour impossible, the latest novel from Christine Angot.
