Born 1950 in Brussels. She made her first film Blow Up My Town when she was only eighteen. A versatile artist, she has since directed many features and documentaries, written books and made installations. Among her main works are: I, You, She, He (1975), Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975), News From Home (1976), The Meetings of Anna (1978), All Night Long (1982), Golden Eighties (1985), American Stories, Food, Family and Philosophy (1988), Night and Day (1991), From the East (1993), A Couch in New York (1996), South (1999), The Captive (1999), From the Other Side (2002) and Tomorrow We Move (2004). She has lived in Brussels, New York and Paris where she is now working.
