She has been involved in the film world, as an actress, for almost 30 years. She completed her "Sixtet' of Citra's Award, the most recognised award in the Indonesian film community and four awards at the Asia Pacific International Film Festival for her performance as Best Actress.
As film producer she produced Daun Di Atas Bantal (Leaf on a pillow) which has been selected for Un Certain Regard section on the 51st Cannes Festival 1998. And at the 11th Tokyo International Film Festival received a Special Jury Prize and the Best Film at the Asia Pacific Film Festival, in Taipei. Pasic Berbisik (Whispering Sands), 2001, was second film she has produced cooperation with other Indonesian producers and NHK Broadcasting Corp., Japan.
She has also been selected as a jury member of Shanghai Film Festival (1985), Tokyo International Film Festival (1990), Hawaii Film Festival (1991), Asia Pacific Film Festival in Sydney-Australia (1994), Fukuoka Asian Film Festival (1995), and Head of the jury council of the South East Asia Bienalle Film Festival in Cambodia (1997).
The Indonesian Government granted her an Art Award (1990), Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres from the French Government (1997), Yamamoto Yasue Award from Japan (1997), Jahwarnal Nehru Award from India Government (1997) and the 7th Nikkei Asia Prize winner for cultural category - Japan (2002).
