"From Freeze Die Come to Life to Gainsbourg, from St. Petersburg to Paris, my life, my heart and my work send me endlessly back and forth between my two countries. Vitali Kanevsky initiated me to film, I was twelve years old, the film won the Caméra d’or, it was in 1990, my story with the Festival de Cannes started there. A few years on, I witnessed the upheaval of my country, the borders opening and our life changing forever. I continued my university studies, but my real teachers were my directors, Kanevsky, Lungin, Balabanov. The Russia of the 90s was in crisis, so was its cinema, I decided to leave for France, where, thanks to Pascal Bonitzer, Julie Bertuccelli, Jamshed Usmonov, Léa Fehner, Joann Sfar, a new page is being written."
