Born in 1957, Emmanuel Carrère began his career as a cinema critic (Positif, Télérama, a book on Werner Herzog). He wrote the script of about twenty movies for television, novels: The Moustache (1986), Class Trip (Fémina awarded, 1995), The Adversary (2000), A Russian Novel (2007), Other lives than mine (2009), translated in twenty languages. Class Trip was turned into a film by Claude Miller (Jury Prize, Cannes 1997) and The Adversary by Nicole Garcia (Cannes, 2002). Other Lives than mine will be adapted for screen by Philippe Lioret. Emmanuel Carrère directed two
movies, the documentary Back to Kotelnich (2003) and The Moustache, starring Vincent Lindon and Emmanuelle Devos (The Directors’ Fortnight, 2005).
