Julia Ormond studied acting in London. Among her stage credits is Christopher Hampton¿s " Faith Hope and Charity ", for which she receives the 1989 London Drama Critics¿ Award for best newcomer.
Her film credits include such films as Jerry Zucker¿s First Knight with Sean Connery and Richard Gere ; Angela Pope¿s Captives with Tim Roth ; Ed Zwick¿s Legends of the Fall with Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins and Aidan Quinn and Peter Greenaway¿s The Baby of Macon with Ralph Fiennes. She played the title role in Sydney Pollack¿s update of Sabrina, opposite Harrison Ford and Greg Kinnear, and starred in Bille August¿s Smilla¿s Sense of Snow. Most recently, she starred in The Barber of Siberia for Nikita Mikhalkov.
She recently earned a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for her performance in David Hare¿s My Zinc Bed. She has completed Gregory Mosher¿s The Prime Gig with Vince Vaughn and Ed Harris and appears in Varian¿s War, opposite William Hurt.
J. Ormond has an independent production company called Indican Productions, based in New York. She served as executive producer the feature documentary Calling the Ghosts : A Story of Rape, War and Women which won the Nestor Almendros Award at the 1996 Human Rights Watch International Film Festival and was an official selection at the Toronto and Berlin Film Festivals.
