The American actress Mira Sorvino graduated from Harvard University, where she studied Chinese. She worked on numerous short films, including The Dutch Master by Susan Seidelman, nominated for the Oscar for best short film. Her performance in the Woody Allen film, Mighty Aphrodite (1995) won her many awards, including an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Her film credtis include; Quiz Show by Robert Redford, Barcelona by Whit Stillman, Lulu on the Bridge by Paul Auster, Too Tired to Die by Wonksun Chin and Summer of Sam by Spike Lee. Mira Sorvino is also in Cannes this year as the producer of the film Famous by Griffen Dunne, which is part of the Un Certain Regard selection.
