Born in 1971, Radu Muntean is one of the central figures of the Romanian New Wave. His first feature film, The Rage (2002), received the Best Debut Film Award by the Romanian Filmmakers Union. Following its premiere at the 2006 Locarno Competition, The Paper Will Be Blue won numerous international distinctions. Boogie was presented at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2008, as well as many other festivals including Karlovy Vary and Rotterdam. In 2010, Tuesday, After Christmas was presented in the Un Certain Regard selection of Cannes. In 2011, he co-directed with Alexandru Baciu Visiting Room, a documentary produced by HBO Romania. He returned to La Croisette for Un Certain Regard in 2015, with his fifth feature, One Floor Below. Radu Muntean is currently developing a new feature film project, Alice T., written together with long-time collaborators Razvan Radulescu and Alexandru Baciu.
