Salma Hayek has proven herself as a prolific actress, producer, and director, in both film and television. Hayek received an Academy Award Nomination, a Golden Globe Award Nomination, a SAG Nomination, and a BAFTA Nomination for Best Actress for the title role in Julie Taymor's Frida Khalo. Hayek recently wrapped production on Joachim Roenning and Espen Sandberg's Bandidas opposite Penelope Cruz and is currently shooting Todd Robinson's Lonely Hearts opposite John Travolta and James Gandolfini. The actress was last seen in Brett Ratner's After the Sunset with Pierce Brosnan and Woody Harrelson, and will star in Robert Towne's Ask the Dust, alongside Colin Farrell this Fall. In 2004, Hayek won an Emmy for her directorial debut, The Maldonado Miracle which premiered at Sundance Film Festival. Born and raised in Coatzacoalcos, Mexico, Hayek studied International Relations and Drama in college in Mexico. Other Mexican credits include, Midaq Alley, based on a novel by Nobel Prize winner, Naguib Mafouz.
